Debut novel by Gerard Reve (1923-2006), published under a half pseudonym in November 1947. Hardback FIRST EDITION. Cf. Van Winden 2. The most famous book in post-war Dutch literature was considered 'untranslatable' for a long time. An English translation of the book, titled The Evenings: A Winter's Tale, was not published until November 2016.

¶ PLEASE NOTE : This copy comes with a forgery of the dust jacket by Ies Spreekmeester, almost indistinguishable from the real. It looks fantastic and of course you can make a literary flash among friends with it, but remember that it's not real.
