Gerard Reve's debut novel (1923-2006), published under half pseudonym in November 1947. The most famous book from post-war Dutch literature was for a long time regarded as 'untranslatable'. An English translation of the book, entitled The Evenings: A Winter's Tale, was not released until November 2016. Hardcover first edition. Cover: Ies Spreekmeester. There belongs a wrap-around-band with the book, but only a few copies are known. Cf. Van Winden 2.
