Contemporary account of the evacuation, destruction and looting of the Gelderland capital by the German Nazis during and after the Battle of the Rhine Bridge in September 1944, written by "two Arnhemmers." The booklet was intended to initiate emergency aid. This is the earliest documentation in book form about this disastrous military operation.

¶ We know of two versions of the booklet. This one, printed on pretty bad paper, must be (in our opinion) the first edition. A smaller format version, on slightly better paper, appeared the same year. According to NCC, the authors were Tjeerd de Boorder (1911-?) and W.H. Kruiderink. In the note that we found in our copy, the text (presumably incorrectly) is also attributed to the photographer Piet De Booys.
