Mimeographed edition with text (in Dutch) of an interesting lecture on Cubism (and Futurism). With a loose inserted invitation to attend the talk, on Wednesday 7 November 8 pm in the American Hotel at the Leidsche Plein. Entrance Fl 1.50. Obscure booklet, not in public collections.
¶ "[Cubism is an art movement that together with] Surrealism is the most important painting movement of our time. [...]. There is therefore no longer any chance for us to bring something new to painting" the author writes, just before the establishment of CoBrA.
Vermij, himself a mathematician and also an abstract painter, further states: "The mathematically exact mind has changed the earth's crust and its technique continues without delay to rape nature." A topical story.
