Dutch translation of 'Ardath: The Story of a Dead Self' (1889); an esoteric novel by Marie Corelli, the pseudonym of the forgotten English writer Mary Mackay (1855-1924). Hardcover edition in Art Nouveau binding by unknown artist. Cf. Beijers 254; Not in Braches.

¶ The young poet Theos Alwyn undertakes a strange soul journey in which he meets his twin soul, an angel named Edris, on the field of Ardath. He is then transported in a vision 7,000 years back in time to the ancient city of Al Kyris, where he is introduced to his alter ego, a poet laureate named Sah-luma. Alwyn is aided in his quest by Heliobas, a monk with special powers who appeared in Marie Corelli's first novel, 'The Romance of Two Worlds' (1886).
