Second novel by Marek van der Jagt; a very cleverly constructed story, set in Germany and Switzerland around the character François Lepeltier who, together with the reader, undergoes a transformation. "Beter dan Arnon Grunberg" Max Pam wrote in HP / De Tijd.

In the period 1999-2002 there was some commotion about the mysterious Viennese writer Marek van der Jagt (1967-) who received the Anton Wachter Prize in 2000 for his "debut" De geschiedenis van mijn kaalheid. Rumors abounded about who he could be. Ultimately, Grunberg turned out to be behind the mystification.

¶ Hardback FIRST EDITION. This copy is SIGNED with dated dedication 'R'dam / 14/3/04' by Arnon Grunberg, but as his alter ego. An autograph with an identity crisis; the writer started with an A, crossed it and completed the signature with 'Marek / van der / Jagt'.
