Collection of interviews, documentation and stories about the 'red light district' of Arnhem. Illustrated with photos and reproductions in black and white and COLOUR, including the brothel scenes and portraits of the 'girls of pleasure' by painter Denny Jacobs (1945-).

¶ The Spijkerkwartier district was designed in 1853 by architect Hendrik Jan Heuvelink. From the 1960s it became a 'red light district' with window prostitution, but also many artists and bon vivants settled here. In 2006, prostitution was banned from the area by the city council led by mayor Pauline Krikke, who lived in the area herself.
