Antique picture book with English translation (by Edward Fitzgerald) of the quatrains by the Persian astronomer / poet Omar Khayyám (1048-1123). Illustrated (and executed with "arabesque" lettering) with 24 tipped-in plates by the Hungarian illustrator Willy Pogany (1882-1955).
¶ Hardback edition in decorated Art Nouveau binding in green linen, which, like the endpapers, was designed by Pogany. The prints and text were printed in (COLOUR!) lithography by Vincent Brooks-Day & Son Ltd., Lithographers [in] London. This is a VERY BEAUTIFUL book.
