¶ This twelfth part is entirely devoted to prostitution and (the history of) Paid Love through the ages. The book deals with i.a. Babylonian and Greek temple prostitutes, Aphrodite, the Middle Ages, the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, and the brothels and red-light districts of modern times.
