¶ Pieter Engels started his own art company EPO (Engels Products Organization) in the 1960s as a conceptual artist. Simon Es, a pseudonym, was his fictional sales promoter. The company sold damaged and subsequently 'restored' furniture, prototypes and assemblies by Engels.
In 1971, in a letter to Minister Marga Klompé, he offered the Kingdom of the Netherlands his lifelong strike as a visual artist for the amount of 25,000,000 guilders.
