English translation of this standard work on the Bohemian Tarot cards, originally published in 1889. Illustrated with black and white reproductions. With table of contents, bibliography and index. Hardback edition (Revised, with preface by A.E. White), in fact a reprint of the edition by Arcanum Books (1958).

¶ Papus was the pseudonym of the French physician Gérard Encausse (1865-1916). At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century he was one of the main figures in international occultism. Many of his books are still considered to be the basis for occult knowledge.
