[Ukiyo-e] A group of 3 oriental prints with BIRDS - [N.p.] - [No publ.] - [c. 1900/1930] - Woodcuts on paper, framed behind glass - 20 x 41 cm.

Condition: Good set.

Three antique oriental woodblock prints of birds in COLOUR: 1. a sea eagle (?) with Hokusai-like waves; 2. a nightingale surrounded by bamboo; 3. a rooster and chicken under the cherry blossoms. Origin is China or Japan. These works of art are from three different makers with their own stamps.

¶ The characters are difficult to read (the nightingale possibly made by one 'Mak Chau'). The prints were framed by the same gallery: F.H. Smit, vergulder / encadreur at the Grote Houtstraat 69 in Haarlem. This company was already active in the 19th century, but given the smooth glass we believe that the frames were manufactured after 1925, around 1930.
