John Reis - Kindermoordenaar. Roman - Antwerpen - R. van Hevel / Een "Bison" Uitgave - [ca 1968] - 1st edition - 212 pp - Hardcover with dust jacket - 14 x 20 cm.

Condition: Good - COMPLETE with the dust jacket (some wear - neat copy).

A 'fiercely realistic' pornographic novel from the 1960s, set in the "earthly paradise of Miami" with a plot reminiscent of the later Friday the 13th horror films. Hardback edition, 'Demonenreeks' is mentioned on the spine.

"[The author] leidt zijn lezers rond in het broeierige labyrint van de zonde waar prostitutie, onbelemmerde omgang tussen de seksen, verboden erotische films en verdovende middelen aan de orde van de dag zijn. Door het hele verhaal spookt een geheimzinnige demonische moordenaar, wiens door gruwelijke jeugdervaringen verziekte geest voldoening zoekt in het verkrachten van jonge meisjes om ze daarna te verminken en te doden." - Blurb text.

Very curious pulp book of which only one copy is known from the collection of Bert Sliggers (now in the collection of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague).

¶ It is unknown who is behind the pseudonym 'John Reis', but we do know who the publisher is: Walter Soethoudt (1939-), known as a promoter of the work of Marquis De Sade. Soethoudt used his mother's name and address at 15 Perenstraat for the publication of spicy literature. Heere Heeresma and Jef Geeraerts produced pornography for him anonymously, while he also wrote and translated diligently himself under various pseudonyms (including 'Hij Jan Cremer' as Denis Arnolds).
