Standard monograph / total catalogue of the expressionist painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Illustrated with photos and reproductions of the artworks in colour and black and white (paintings, drawings, watercolors, sketchbooks, graphics and sculptures). Text in English. With biography, bibliography and registers. Hardback edition.

¶ The definitive reference book about the at an early age deceased artist from Vienna, Austria (he died shortly after the First World War together with his wife from the effects of the Spanish Flu). Schiele was influenced by Jugendstil muralist Gustav Klimt and his Secession movement. The self-portraits, in which Schiele shows himself ruthlessly, can still be shocking to contemporary audiences, because of their explicitly sexual, narcissistic and exhibitionist character.
