Monograph by the Dutch artist Gerharda 'Gra' Rueb (1885-1972). Illustrated with black-and-white photographs of (wooden) sculptures, medals, and busts. Print run: 1000 copies. Hardback edition. Cf. Van Dijk 730.
¶ Gra Rueb created the Van Tuyll monument for the Olympic Stadium for the 1928 Summer Olympics, which became a topic of discussion in the years following World War II. The Olympic salute performed by the depicted athlete was increasingly seen, albeit unintentionally, as a representation of the fascist/Hitler salute. This led to the statue's removal in March 2022. - Wikipedia.
