¶ Cf. Bibliotheca Gastronomica 6655; Landwehr 194 dates the book to 1907. The edition of 10,000 copies was quite large for the time. In addition to solutions for hemorrhoids ("abstain from all spirits [and] a cold wash of the entire body early in the morning"), the book also gives advice on quitting smoking: "Wanneer men veel appelen eet, valt het gemakkelijker het rooken af te wennen".
