Promotional gift to promote the SEIKO software system of the Dutch IT company CIMI (founded in 1977). A box in book form with an introduction to the Quipu and a facsimile of the Quipu as kept in the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden. Rare collector's item for geeks. Not in the public collections (NCC).

¶ The Quipo was a kind of abacus of textiles, threads and buttons, with which the Incas did their bookkeeping like a primitive computer. Felipe Huaman Poma de Ayala (1535-1616), was a Quechua nobleman whose book (discovered around 1900) describes the Quipo.

The back of the box reads 'Part 1'. There may have been plans to issue more of these types of promotional gifts, but probably this is all that was published. In 1987, CIMI was sold to the listed company HCS technology.
