Controversial 1920s novel full of (lesbian) sexuality that was called "crude, vulgar and pornographic" at the time. Text in Dutch. Hardback edition in earthenware red Art Deco binding (by unknown designer) with stylized dancer in black on the cover.

An image of the cover in a gold stamped version can be found in the article by Connie van Gils on p. 40 of 'Onder de toonbank' (2018). Also read Bert Sliggers' 'De zedeloze jaren 30' p. 68-70.

"[...] en als ze Agnes' lichaam dicht bij zich voelde, wáár dan ook, had ze den wensch, den gloeienden, onzinnige wensch van een waarachtig minnaar haar lippen te zetten op de meest verborgen plaatsen, te weten wat de ontroeringen waren van dit mooie lijf [...]."

¶ Edith (Judith) Werkendam (1896-1952) was a Dutch writer of high-profile, pornographic cult novels (such as 'Als lot en leven dobbelen' (1923) and 'Model' (1925). In 1924, Werkendam made it into the newspaper because she was arrested during a bicycle ride with her husband and a girlfriend through Hilversum. The reason: she cycled with pants on (!). Edith Werkendam is an exponent of the LGBT community avant-la-lettre. All her books are rare and obscure.
