Critical survey of the working methods of the Dutch Internal Security Service (BVD) in the 1980s and exposure of the Nijmegen Police Intelligence Service (PID). Illustrated with black and white photos of infiltrators. With chronology, glossary of abbreviations and bibliography.

¶ The 'Binnenlandse Veiligheidsdienst' (BVD), a former Dutch secret service charged with maintaining internal security and countering foreign interference, was established in 1949 and transformed into the Algemene Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst [General Intelligence and Security Service] (AIVD) in 2002. For most of its existence, the service was focused on the fight against communism.

This book (in fact marketed by Uitgeverij Ravijn) was banned by the Arnhem court in November 1990. Especially the incriminating interview with the unmasked agent Joop de Boer, alias Joop Tiel, was not well received by the intelligence service. Booksellers risked a penalty payment of Fl. 5000,- per day. Probably a large part of the edition (three printings!) has been lost.
