Dutch edition of the famous adventure book and fictional travelogue by Daniel Defoe (1660-1731). Illustrated with black and white plates. Hardback edition. Title on the cover reads: 'Robinson Crusoe. Heel zijn leven en al zijn wonderbare Lotgevallen'.

¶ A nice antique book, but what fell out is more interesting: A mimeographed sheet with advertising from the 'Nederlandse Verzendboekhandel' by C. van Schie and J. Klaver. On offer are three books in the 'ramsj' (= publisher's remnants), including 'De Mens van Nazareth' by Arthur van Schendel ("van f.2.70 voor f.1.45").

The letter is dated '1 Maart 1942'. The 'Boekenweek' (a national Book Week) was no longer organized. The writers point to the paper shortage and that one should buy books now it is still possible ("Een passend geschenk? Geeft een boek!"). The K-number at the bottom is puzzling (K.8250). The list of K numbers known to me goes up to 2755. The back was used for a (children's?) drawing of a map of the island of Robinson Crusoe and his friend Friday.
