¶ The Russian Achilles de Khotinsky started the first light bulb factory in the Netherlands on December 24, 1883 in Rotterdam. After Gerard Philips visited the winter garden of Hotel Krasnapolsky, he became so fascinated by the incandescent light that he decided to start producing incandescent bulbs. This idea led to the establishment of a light bulb factory in Eindhoven in 1891. A factory that eventually grew into the multinational Koninklijke Philips Electronics.
