Early 19th century antiquarian English family bible; the Old and New Testament plus "the Books called Apocrypha". With table of contents and tables for measures, weights, money and time (months and days of the week). Text (in English) printed in two columns.

¶ Bound in contemporary black leather binding with gilt decoration on boards and spine (so no lettering) and gilt edges. The pages are unnumbered, the comments are printed in small type, always at the bottom of the page. The Apocryphal Books include Tobit, Judith, Esther, and Wisdom.

Illustrated with frontispiece (steel engraving of Abraham sacrificing Isaac by C. Armstrong after work by J. Thorston) and engraved title ("The Spirit of God moved upon the Face of the Waters"). Further no pictures present. Yet we think the Bible is complete as it is. We know that a first edition appeared in 1802 with at least five prints. However, this edition from 1809 is only found in WorldCat (6x) without illustrations or only with frontispiece and title plate.
