Second collection of poems (four years after his debut) by de Tachtiger Albert Verwey (1865-1937). There is a self-published "pre-publication" known from 1888 but, published in large format and printed on luxury handmade paper, this is the official first edition.

¶ In 1885 Albert Verwey was one of the founders of the literary magazine De Nieuwe Gids. The same year he was portrayed by Jan Veth. In 1889 he obtained his grammar school diploma in Latin and after a conflict with Willem Kloos (who became jealous when Verwey got engaged) he left the editorial board of De Nieuwe Gids. Around 1900 Verwey was closely involved in the creation of the Amsterdam Beurs van Berlage.
